What we collect
An anonymous player number. Our server mints a random id the first time you open the app — there is no account, no sign-up, and no email address. We never ask who you are.
Which cases you have finished, the score and whether you used hints, and your daily streak. This is what the leaderboard and your badge wall are built from.
Your chosen difficulty tier.
Your detective name, avatar letter and language stay on your device and are never sent to us.
How we use it
To serve the same daily case to everyone, keep your streak, rank the leaderboard, and unlock badges.
The leaderboard shows a shortened form of your anonymous player number and nothing else. Nobody can be identified from it, including us.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train AI models beyond what is needed to generate your result in the moment.
Where it goes
Case results are sent over HTTPS to our service and are not shared with anyone or used for advertising.
Dead Giveaway shows an optional rewarded video (Google AdMob) that you can choose to watch in exchange for hint currency. You are never required to watch one, and no ad is ever shown during a case. AdMob may process device and usage data under its own privacy policy to serve and measure that ad.
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase completed; we never see your card or billing details.
Your choices
Because there is no account, uninstalling the app ends the association between you and your player number. To have the case results tied to your player number deleted before that, contact [email protected] from the app's Settings screen, which includes your player number.
A note on the cases
Every case, city detail, victim and suspect in Dead Giveaway is fictional. Cases are written to genre templates and are never based on, derived from, or intended to resemble any real crime, investigation, or real person living or dead.
Children
Dead Giveaway is intended for users 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
