Privacy Policy

Effective 19 August 2026

What we collect

Nothing. Miraaj has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. There is nothing to sign in to, and no profile is ever built about you.

Your prayer settings, bookmarks, hifz progress and reading position are stored on your phone only. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Location

If you allow it, Miraaj reads your device location. Prayer times and the qibla direction are worked out from it entirely on your phone, and that never leaves the phone.

Finding mosques is the exception, because it needs a server. When you open the Mosques screen, Miraaj sends the coordinates of your saved location to our own mosque directory at deplyra.com to look up the community mosques near you. This runs automatically as the screen loads, not on a tap. If you set your location by detecting it rather than choosing a city by hand, those coordinates are your device position, to within about ten metres.

If you choose to download the mosques for an area, Miraaj also sends that point to OpenStreetMap's Overpass service to fetch the map data. That request is rounded to roughly a kilometre first and only runs after you confirm it. OpenStreetMap handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

On our own server the coordinates are used only to answer that one lookup. They are not written to any log, not stored, not kept as history, and not linked to you, and there is no account for them to attach to.

You can decline the location permission and set your city by hand instead. Everything except finding nearby mosques still works, and if you never open the Mosques screen, no coordinates leave your phone.

What leaves your phone

Your location, when you use the Mosques screen, as described above. It goes to our mosque directory, and to OpenStreetMap only if you download an area.

The mosques you follow. To tell you about a new jamaat time or a janazah announcement, the app asks our server now and then what has changed for the mosques on your follow list. It sends only their ids, never your location, and the list itself stays on your phone. The server records nothing.

A correction to a mosque listing, or the classes form if you are a scholar filling it in. These leave only when you choose to send them, and a correction carries no name.

Quran text and audio are downloaded from our servers as you read or listen. We do not record what you read. Microphone audio for memorisation is recognised entirely on your phone and is never sent to us.

Your choices

There is no account to delete. Removing the app removes your data. For any privacy question, contact [email protected].
